For the last 2 years I have had the opportunity to work with the McCarthy Companies in the construction of the new 60 California project. We had the opportunity to select from several well known construction companies in Ventura and LA County. McCarthy Companies consistently impressed us with their planning and financial acumen early in the process.
The building was constructed with a tight staging area and on a highly trafficked street in downtown Ventura. McCarthy was able to accommodate the City and neighbors while working diligently to hold firm to budget and schedule. The building’s structural components included 60 foot concrete caissons, structural concrete footings, structural steel with structural decking with a concrete floor system and cold formed steel framing on the exterior.
As this was a high profile project, McCarthy made an extra effort to ensure the downtown business owners were notified of any construction activities that might affect their businesses. Throughout the project McCarthy has demonstrated their progressiveness and the ease and ability to work together as a team. Their open book approach uses their strong and reliable subcontractor network to obtain at least three bids per trade, demonstrating competitive bidding and cost savings which has built a strong sense of trustworthiness. The quality of their workmanship, experience and the firm’s integrity makes McCarthy Companies an easy choice for general construction services.
McCarthy worked very close with my representative, Tim McLoughlin of the Bertao LLC Consulting Group. Tim and McCarthy worked closely together to insure that the project was completed in a quality way to our Company’s specification. McCarthy did not ruminate on the small stuff and was willing to have flexibility when necessary.
It was a pleasure working with the McCarthy Companies to build our 19,427 SF four-story mixed use commercial building in downtown Ventura. This building was the first Four-Story Mixed-Use Retail/Restaurant/Office Building approved and built in downtown Ventura in over 50 years. The building features elegant architectural design with clean lines and smooth finishes that blend in well with the Ventura aesthetic. It includes an elaborate 6’x15’ tile mural in the front lobby, a history of Ventura, 2nd floor pedestrian bridge, 4th floor balcony with ocean views and a light-show in the tower.
McCarthy Construction “walks the talk”. Honest, reliable, flexible and fair. Characteristics of any one or Company that I would want to work with. McCarthy Construction will take the “lead” on leasehold improvements should our new tenants require their services. If you are anticipating a commercial real estate construction company, there is no need to look any further.
